
Women's History Movie Matinee
This program will take place in person at Jerome Park Library.
In honor of Women’s History Month, we’d like to recognize historical and modern women, who have shown throughout history, that their strength is nothing to contend with. Through history making events we are honor to highlight the various experiences of women in America.
Please join us in celebrating Women’s History Month at the Jerome Park Library with a screening of the award winning Motion Picture, Real Women Have Curves .
Predictable but insightful character study about an 18-year-old Mexican-American (America Ferrera) who clashes with her traditional mother (Lupe Ontiveros) over her future. A Mexican-American girl wants to go away to college but must battle against the views of her parents, who think she should stay at home and provide for the family. As a compromise, she works with her mother in a sewing factory over the summer and learns some important lessons about life, helping her make a decision about her future.
