¡WEPA! Festival
El Puente’s annual ¡WEPA! Festival is a joyous celebration of Latine culture, community, and resilience in Los Sures, Williamsburg’s historic Southside. This year’s theme, “Defend! ¡Pa’lante!”, reflects El Puente’s commitment to defend against funding cuts, gentrification, and rising costs while uplifting the power of its community. The day will include live performances by Las Mariquitas, Treya Lam & Elenna Canlas, Los Lil’ Kumbia, BombaYo, BomberX, Los Soneros de City Lore, DJ Mira Mira, and KARLALA Soundsystem, free workshops led by community members and organizations: salsa dance, bike safety & repair, meditation, nail art, and more. Plus, the unveiling of El Puente’s new mural, a resource fair, and remarks by elected officials including Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, Council Member Jennifer Gutiérrez,, Assemblywoman Maritza Dávila, and El Puente’s new Executive Director, Dianne Morales.
The event takes place along Roebling Street between South 2nd and South 4th Streets, outside El Puente’s Williamsburg headquarters.
