Two New Years: Read, Learn & Craft with Author Richard Ho
Celebrate Lunar New Year with Richard Ho, author of the children’s book Two New Years (Chronicle Books 2023). Learn about new year customs in both Chinese and Jewish culture, and reflect on the beauty of blended traditions in all families! This program includes a book reading, Q&A, and paper-cutting activity. Ages 5 and older.
For this multicultural family in Richard Ho’s Two New Years, inspired by Ho’s own, two New Years mean twice as much to celebrate! In the fall, Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, offers an opportunity to bake challah, dip apples in honey, and lift voices in song. In the spring, Lunar New Year brings a chance to eat dumplings, watch dragon and lion dances, and release glowing lanterns that light up the sky.
Please note: this is not a drop-off activity. Children must have an adult companion with them at all times. Tickets must be purchased in advance, as space is limited.
