Theater Storytime With James McMullan
Presented in collaboration with Lincoln Center as part of the Summer for the City programming.
Lincoln Center’s free Storytime programming returns at Summer for the City—and, due to continued popular demand, we have scheduled two readings every Wednesday! Curated by The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts—which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year—Storytime events feature a children’s book reading accompanied by live music, dance, or theater, engaging kids of all ages. Famed Lincoln Center Theater poster artist James McMullan is also the illustrator of a popular series of children’s books written by his wife, Kate McMullan. The books follow the life of several big vehicles that traverse the city streets: a garbage truck (I Stink!), a backhoe (I’m Dirty!), and a firetruck (I’m Brave!). The McMullans read some of their work and lead the audience in a drawing lesson so they can illustrate their own stories.
There are two ways to access this free event:
1. General Admission, first-come first-served. Just show up!
2. Fast Track, opening the Monday before the event at noon. Click here to learn more and reserve.
