Brooklyn Org invites you to a screening of The Right to Read at Bedford Stuyvesant’s iconic Billie Holiday Theatre, in partnership with Bed Stuy Early Childhood Development Center, READ 718, and Brooklyn Book Bodega.
The Right to Read shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.
A reception will be held in the theater lobby from 7:00-7:30PM.
NYC’s Deputy Chancellor of Early Childhood Education Dr. Kara Ahmed, Ed.D. will provide welcoming remarks before the screening, and the event will conclude with a conversation between Brooklyn Org’s President & CEO Dr. Jocelynne Rainey, Brendan Mimms (Community Superintendent District 16), Angela Terry (Executive Director, Bedford Stuyvesant Early Childhood Development Center), and Maya Williams (READ 718 Parent).
