Powerful and Lightning Fast Tabla Drumming Ensemble Performs in NYC
On October 15, the globe trotting Indian Tabla ensemble Talavya will deliver a high-energy performance that demonstrates the modern adaptability of classical Indian drumming.
Composed by Indian rhythm maestro Pandit Divyang Vakil, the Indian hand-drums Tabla comes to the center stage in the hands of the young, highly trained players of Talavya – that revels in the Tablas’ hidden potency as a rhythmic and melodic instrument capable of expressing just about anything. Talavya makes the centuries-old art form of Tabla accessible to all.

The Tabla players in this ensemble are Rushi Vakil (son of the composer Pandit Divyang Vakil), NJ-born Mike Lukshis (senior non-Indian disciple of Pandit Vakil), and Kaumil Shah. Together with Rohan Prabhudesai on harmonium, Talavya will treat all in attendance with their synchronization, musicianship, and showmanship.
