Swim Across America – New York Athletic Club at Travers Island POOL SWIM

Swim Across America – Long Island Sound is making waves this summer with its KIDS Swimming FOR KIDS pool swims, raising critical funds for pediatric cancer research. Eight pool swims across Westchester County will be held this summer, starting on June 27 and culminating with the 33rd annual Swim Across America – Long Island Sound open water swim on July 26, plus one additional pool swim the first week in August.
On Friday, June 27, join the 21st Annual Swim Across America – Long Island Sound Pool Swim at The New York Athletic Club at Travers Island to make waves to fight cancer. Swimmers may swim 1/2-mile, 1-mile or form relay teams. Team participation is encouraged and can consist of friends and family that participate together as a group, often times in honor or in memory of an individual. Teams must have at least 5 swimmers. A team of 5 – 10 swimmers, must raise at least $5,000 – each additional member must raise $500. A swimmer may be part of a team, no matter in which venue they elect to swim. Shower and changing facilities provided. Swimmers are invited to stay after the swim for a complimentary barbecue! Swim is held Friday, June 27, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., at the New York Athletic Club Travers Island Pool, Shore Road in Pelham Manor, New York. To register, visit swiimacrossamerica.org/lis and click on pool swims.
To raise awareness and inspire young swimmers, Swim Across America will be offering a fun buy-one, give-one campaign offering supporters a chance to get a Dash the Dolphin, Swim Across America’s mascot and plush toy for a $30 donation — for each plush toy purchased, a second plush toy will be gifted to a pediatric cancer patient at Memorial Sloan Kettering Kids and NewYork-Presbyterian Children’s Hospital through the swim’s KIDS Swimming FOR KIDS program.
Everyone’s life has been impacted by cancer which is why we’re swimming to help “Make Waves to Fight Cancer” and raise money for cancer research, prevention and treatment. Proceeds from the swim will support immunotherapy research at the Swim Across America Laboratory, the research laboratories of Dr. Luis Diaz and the MSK Kids Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, immunotherapy research and clinical trials at the Swim Across America Laboratory at Weill Cornell Cancer Center, pediatric oncology research at Morgan Columbia University Medical Center and patient services with Cancer Support Team.
The pool swims are part of Swim Across America – Long Island Sound’s broader mission to fund innovative cancer research. Since 1992, the Long Island Sound swim has raised more than $27 million, contributing to major advancements such as FDA-approved immunotherapy treatments and groundbreaking clinical trials. The Long Island Sound swim is the largest in the Swim Across America network and aims to reach $30 million raised in total by the end of this year.
