Swamp in the City: A Cajun & Creole Music Festival

Dust off your dancing shoes for the 7th Annual Swamp in the City: A Cajun & Creole Music Festival happening May 16-19, 2024, in Red Hook, Brooklyn!

NYC’s 4-day celebration of South Louisiana’s vibrant heritage will feature world-class Cajun & Zydeco bands, dance lessons, jam sessions, workshops, delicious Cajun/Creole food, a Thursday kick-off party, a Saturday afternoon pub crawl, a Sunday family dance, and a jam-packed weekend of music, dancing and fun along the beautiful Red Hook waterfront.

This year’s All-Star lineup includes Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole, Roddie Romero, Wayne Singleton, The Orignal Pine Leaf Boys, Jesse Lége, The Daiquiri Queens, Joel Savoy, Kelli Jones, Blake Miller, Rose & the Bros, Red Aces, 99 Playboys, The Slide Stops, Chris Stafford, Desiree Champagne, Jo Vidrine, Trey Boudreaux, Eric Minix + more!

Thursday, May 16 from 7-11p: Kickoff Party at Jalopy Theatre & Tavern (315 Columbia St, Brooklyn, NY 11231)

Tickets: $40 adv/$45 door

9pm-late: Honky Tonk Dance Party with The Slide Stops

Friday, May 17 from 7-11pm: Waterfront Museum & Barge* (290 Conover St, Brooklyn, NY 11231)

Tickets: $40 adv/$50 door (wooden dance floor aboard a historic floating barge!)

7-8:30pm Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole

8:30pm: Dance Lesson
9-11pm: The Daiquiri Queens

*No alcohol is permitted on the Barge, so we ask that you visit Sunny’s Bar across the street (253 Conover St) for libations. We’ll also feature some surprise Cajun bands at Sunny’s that night!

12p-7p: CAJUN INVASION PUB CRAWL! (check in at Strong Rope Brewery (185 Van Dyke Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231) anytime after 12pm

Tickets: $30 adv/$40 day of event

Dance your way through Red Hook on Saturday as we feature over 7 All-Star bands (plus jams and workshops) at various spots near and including Strong Rope Brewery. Participants will receive a wristband and map/schedule when they arrive at Strong Rope the day of the event. Featured pub crawl experiences to include The Daiquiri Queens, Kelli Jones and Drew Simon, The Blake Miller Experience, a line dancing workshop, Rose & the Bros, 99 Playboys, the Red Aces and more! Note: all pub crawl participating venues are within a 5-7 min walk from Strong Rope.
