On April 8, 2024 slow down, look up, and celebrate our solar system at a rare astronomical occurrence. This will be the last total solar eclipse (when the Moon occults the Sun from our vantage point on Earth) that is visible from the contiguous United States until 2044! New York City will observe 90 percent totality and, weather permitting, we’ll get to view this cosmic event together.

Gather on the grounds of Brooklyn’s historic Green-Wood Cemetery for an afternoon of eclipse viewing with special-edition glasses and telescopes with solar filters, as well as music, hands-on activities and self-guided tours. Presented by Pioneer Works, Green-Wood, the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York, and the Simons Foundation. This afternoon will be one that comes around only once a few decades—don’t miss out! Advanced registration required.
