Port Holiday Magic returns with store specials, free trolley rides, shoppertainment, and more. There will be singing Toy Soldiers, holiday blowups, carolers and introducing RadioPW – On Air! Look for the red holiday bows on the storefronts of participating businesses. They will each offer something special for their customers – a discount on merchandise, services or gift cards; a gift with purchase; holiday treats; free gift wrapping; in-store entertainment, and more.  The Town of North Hempstead Parking District will cover the meters and suspend the on-street parking meter fees on Main Street and certain other streets starting on Small Business Friday, November 29, and continuing through January 1, 2025.

The December magical days are:

December 7 – Port Holiday Giving Magic when we ask everyone to “SHOP LOCAL, GIVE LOCAL.” The gym at Landmark on Main Street will be the site of a nonprofit festival where local organizations can sign up volunteers and accept donations. Santa will make an appearance and entertainment will be provided by singers from the Girl Scout singers and Community Synagogue to add to the holiday spirit. We also encourage people to make donations to local organizations and to the “Make a Child Smile Toy, Food & Diaper Drive” at participating stores which are listed on the Try Port First app. There will be a “Stuff the Bus” in front of Landmark on Main Street for donations of new, unwrapped toys for less fortunate children in our community.

December 14 – Port Holiday Window Magic. Businesses throughout town are showing their holiday spirit and going all out to decorate their windows. A panel of judges will view the participating windows and cast their votes. They will have three categories: Best Painted Window, Most Creative Decorated Window and Most Beautiful Decorated Window. The public can also vote for their favorite window online at pwcoc.org. The winners will be announced during the day and will receive holiday plaques as well as recognition and photos in the local papers and on social media. A list of all the stores in the contest can be found below and on the Try Port First app under EVENTS. The day will also feature a Community Stroll on Main Street from Port Washington Boulevard to Landmark on Main Street beginning at 12PM. Along the way, holiday strollers can stop at Port’s eateries for a bite to eat or a beverage. Santa will accompany the strollers and lead them in singing holiday songs. Carolers will be joining the strollers as well.
