Move NYC: Parkour + Movement Festival

NEW YORK 一 The Movement Creative returns to New Design High School’s athletic field with their parkour and movement festival and benefit, MOVE NYC. On May 23-25, the nomadic parkour company will build a massive parkour set on the school’s athletic field at 28 Essex Street, and fill it with parkour athletes, climbers, martial artists, and acrobats. Everyone is invited to join the movement community to train, learn, teach, and move together to help raise money for New Design’s physical education program.
The 2024 event featured 40 workshops for adults and youth taught by guest coaches from all over the world. This year’s event features an entirely new roster of coaches with workshops in a variety of parkour skills, calisthenics, martial arts, movement games, and injury prevention for all ages and skill levels. Sunday will feature several youth-only workshops. With raffle drawings, food vendors, a massage tent, and athletic gear for sale in the heart of the bustling Lower East Side, Move NYC is the perfect destination for families in town for the Memorial Day Weekend!
In exchange for the use of their athletic field, The Movement Creative will continue to support New Design’s physical education program. Being able to offer free parkour and movement opportunities to public school students is core to the Movement Creative’s mission. Last year’s contribution approached $10K in capital improvements and programming donations.
MOVE NYC festivities will run Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. No prior experience with parkour is necessary to participate in any of the workshops. All ages are welcome, and the event will be family-friendly. Spectator-only tickets will be available with shady spots to watch the action and enjoy the first official weekend of summer.
