Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节) at APEC

Enjoy a variety of programs, including bird walks, Chinese calligraphy, origami, and Chinese yo-yo performances. Make sure to preregister.

Participants of all ages can also join a Chinese Dance Performance from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm featuring versatile choreographer, teacher, and dancer Keith Shen and his dance group as they showcase a variety of classical Chinese Folk Dance styles. This hour-long performance will include many different rhythms, costumes, and music from Mongolia to Tibet, which make up the diverse cultural fabric of China. No preregistration is required for the dance performances, however, the seats are first-come, first-served and limited to the first 100 participants.

Chinese Calligraphy 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Learn how to write a special Chinese character on ink & paper with Chinese Calligraphy teacher, Jessy! All materials provided. Space is limited.
For Ages 9-12

Children’s Origami Session 1: 10:00 – 10:30 am or Session 2: 11:00 am – 11:30 am
Create cute and classic origami models with step-by-step instructions in this 30-minute folding workshop! From bunnies to boats to flowers, beginners can test their hand-eye coordination and fine more skills by creating traditional origami crafts. Space is limited.
For Ages 9-12

Chinese Yo-Yo Performance Session 1: 12:00 – 12:30 pm or Session 2: 1:00 – 1:30 pm
After a brief demonstration of Yo-Yo movements, participants will work with a Chinese yo-yo and sticks to practice basic tricks like looping, accelerating, and tossing. Space is limited.
