Meet a Mathematician: Melanie Matchett Wood

Join MoMath’s Distinguished Visiting Professor Ingrid Daubechies as she welcomes mathematician Melanie Matchett Wood to the MoMath stage to share her experiences, her stories, and her love of mathematics.

Melanie Matchett Wood is a Professor of Mathematics at Harvard University. She completed her PhD in 2009 at Princeton University under Fields Medalist (and MoMath Trustee) Manjul Bhargava and she was the first woman to qualify for the U.S. International Mathematical Olympiad Team. Her research centers on number theory, a branch of mathematics that deals with the properties and relationships of numbers.
