Living History: Black Oystermen in 18th-Century New York
In the late 18th and early 19th century, oysters were the most popular street food of New York City. Helping to supply these oysters were Black oystermen who made up half of all the oystermen in the city. Join historical interpreters in learning about the experiences of these men and how they provided millions of oysters to the city each year.
