Little New-Yorkers: Sewing the Rainbow: The Story of Gilbert Baker and the Rainbow Flag

June 6, 3:30 pm4:30 pm.
Included with admission: $6-$24

When Gilbert was a young boy growing up in Kansas, he sat in his grandmother’s clothing store and dreamed of a life full of color and sparkle. Being his sparkly-self, however, was not always easy for Gilbert. In Sewing the Rainbow, written by Gayle E. Pitman and illustrated by Holly Clifton-Brown, you’ll learn how Gilbert grew up, moved to San Francisco, and helped people all over the country to celebrate their own unique selves by creating the first ever Pride flag! After the story, make your own collaged rainbow flag!
