Lindenhurst Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

The Village of Lindenhurst & the United Veterans Council of Lindenhurst Wade-Burns Post 7279 Veterans of Foreign War (VFW), along with American Legion Feustel-Kurdt Post 1120, will host the 2024 Memorial Day Parade & Ceremonies. This year’s Grand Marshal is surviving Korean War Veteran Thomas Aloisi.

The day of remembrance will begin at 10:00AM with congruent ceremonies by the VFW at Breslau Cemetery and the Lindenhurst Fire Department (LFD) at Fireman’s Memorial Park. Following their ceremony, the VFW will march west on Newark Street, turn south on Delaware Avenue, and turn west on Charles Street to meet up with the LFD and other parade participants at Fireman’s Memorial Park. From there, at 11:00AM, the parade will head west on Hartford Street, turn south on North Wellwood Avenue, making a brief stop on South Wellwood Avenue to lay a wreath at the WWI Memorial, and continue to Village Hall, 430 South Wellwood Avenue, where a Memorial Day Observance will take place at approximately 12:00PM.

Marching with the Veterans organizations and the Lindenhurst Fire Department, will be elected officials, the Lindenhurst High School and Middle School marching bands & Junior ROTC, and many local civic organizations & community groups.

Honor and remember the brave men and women who died in the performance of their military duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

*Please note, in the event of rain, the parade will be cancelled and ceremonies will be held at the Lindenhurst Fire Department Main House, 225 South Wellwood Avenue, at 10:00AM.
