Groundhog Day at the Staten Island Zoo
Join the annual Groundhog Day Ceremony at the Staten Island Zoo, featuring Staten Island Chuck, the world-famous groundhog! Will Chuck predict an early Spring or six more weeks of winter? There’s only one way to find out!
Event Highlights:
Chuck’s Big Moment: At 8:30 AM, Staten Island Chuck will make his yearly weather prediction. Shadow or no shadow… what will he see?
Special Guests: Staten Island elected officials, dignitaries, and Citizens representatives will join Zoo Executive Director Ken Mitchell for the announcement.
School Participation: Students from Susan E. Wagner High School will be on hand to celebrate Chuck’s role as an ambassador for weather science and they’ll track the local forecast through March 20th, the first day of spring, to see if his prediction is correct.
