Free Theater program for SNAP-eligible Teens Now Accepting Applications

FREE THEATER PROGRAM FOR NYC TEENS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
The Stella Adler Studio of Acting in lower Manhattan is now accepting applications to their free, high-quality theater program, Adler Youth, now in its 21st year. Adler Youth is a free, year-long, Saturday theater program. Students receive classes in voice, speech, movement and acting and perform twice each year. Serving NYC high school students who are impacted by income inequality (i.e. SNAP-eligible or similar) and who have limited exposure to the arts. Applying is time sensitive. Application deadline is September 22. A tip for students: It is better to apply early because part of the process is memorizing and performing a monologue.
This highly respected program accepts 11-22 teens each year who attend classes at the studio’s flagship location in lower Manhattan. Students perform twice each year in December and May. This program is supported in part by public funds from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the city council.
