WHO: The Foundation for New American Art, a 501c3 arts education nonprofit is

offering art and performance classes in a FREE after-school program. The organization offers a variety of imaginative programs dedicated to nurturing the visionary artists of tomorrow. “The young people we serve reside in low-income neighborhoods of our city. The public schools they attend have eliminated or have drastically reduced the arts curriculum,” says Phoebe Legere,

founder/executive director of Foundation for New American Art.

WHAT: The “Paintbrushes Not Guns: Multimedia and the Power of Cultural Memory” Program offers an opportunity to bring a culture of equity and inclusivity to marginalized students who long to be valued and accepted.  “Paintbrushes Not Guns” will provide participants with artistic support and inventive resources to learn, develop, grow and advance their inspired and creative dreams. Students age 8-12 are invited to participate. Each week artistic guests will offer training, insight and discussion.

WHERE: “Paintbrushes Not Guns” will be held at Materials For The Arts, 33-00 Northern Blvd., Queens, NY 11101.

WHEN: The FREE nine-week, bi-annual after-school program will begin March 8, Wednesday, 3:30 pm to 5 pm. The second session will be held in the fall, 2023.
