
Final Fishing Frenzy: Learn to Rig Thursday
No experience necessary, meet on Penn Pier to learn the ins and outs of fishing in Jamaica Bay! Participants will also learn about fish identification, fishing equipment and techniques, angling ethics, and aquatic ecology. All supplies, including rods and bait will be provided. Each session is limited to 15 fishing rods; families/small groups are encouraged to share a rod.
For this final program of the season, there will be a dedicated hands on learning portion to teach people how to tie the knots and the materials needed rig a fishing rod. This lesson will be limited to 5 fishing rods at a time to participants ages 8 and up. Multiple lessons per session. First come first served.

Adaptable fishing equipment is available, but limited in supply per session. Specialized equipment is reserved for anybody who may need assistance holding a rod. Contact us directly for more details about what is available.
Important information:
This program takes place at Penn Pier. The pier is approximately 0.5 miles from the Pennsylvania Avenue Parking Lot along a paved path, you will have to walk along Hendrix Creek Road to meet up at the pier for the program, approximately 20 minutes. See attached image.
Free sport fishing clinics waive the requirement of participants to possess a fishing license or enroll in the Recreational Marine Fishing Registry (during program hours only).
