Drums Along the Hudson: A Native American and Multicultural Celebration

Lotus Music and Dance, supported by NYC Parks, is thrilled to announce that Drums Along the Hudson: A Native American Festival and Multicultural Celebration will celebrate its 22nd anniversary.  The all-day event features an open air pow wow, a celebratory gathering of Native America people, led by Louis Mofsie and the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers with Host Drums Henya Second Sons. Mohawk Elder Tom Porter will give the opening Thanksgiving Address and ceremonial Tree of Peace Planting.

Featuring performances by: Kalpulli Huehuetlatolli Aztec Dancers and Drummers, Haudenosaunee Oneida Singers and Dancers, Kathak Ensemble and Friends: Tap and Kathak Cross Cultural Collaboration, Edwin Ferreras and the Dominican Arts Collective, and more!

Activities include a Mohawk craft demonstration, storytelling, international and vegan cuisine, raffles, and more. To promote environmental awareness and education, organizations such as the Coalition for Healthy School Food, Shumei Natural Agriculture, and others will be in attendance.

Honorees include Sandra Bookman, ABCTV news anchor and host of “Here and Now,” and Jennifer Hoppa, former Northern Manhattan Parks Department Administrator.
