Dewdrop Discoveries for Preschool Aged Children

April 29th to May 22nd, Tuesdays and Thursdays – 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Description:

Welcome to CEED’s brand-new Dewdrop Discoveries! CEED has become well known in our region for opening the world of nature to thousands of K-12 students each year. Now, we are excited to share with our community’s preschoolers the wonders and joys of the natural world.

Dewdrop Discoveries runs from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

Give your child the experience of growing up in nature. Our constructivist (play-based) teaching style and our low 1:4 teacher-to-student ratio give space for each child to explore the world around them, ask questions, discover their creativity, and learn how to grasp fundamental concepts. Our days will begin indoors, and we’ll then spend the majority of our class outside investigating the world. CEED sits on over 70 acres of hiking trails and often partners with our next-door neighbor, Mama Farm, to offer experiences interacting with farm animals.

Schedule – A day in the life

Our class will be meeting on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00 to 12:30 at CEED. In the play-based teaching model, our students self-direct a large part of the day and our educators enhance that with a few pre-planned activities.

10:00 – Arrival & Settle In: Check-out our fish tanks and self-guided activities like coloring or building rock creations.

10:15 – Circle Time: Get to know each other, establish the rules, schedule our day, water our plants, feed the fish.

10:30 – Meet the Animal Ambassador: We have over 14 different species of live animals that are trained to interact with children.

10:50 – Go Outside: Let’s go for a small hike to one of our learning stations, where children can “cook” in our mud kitchen, make sculptures from our wood cookies, or discover what bugs lurk below us.

11:20 – Snack Time: All snacks should be nut-free. 🙂

11:40 – Mindfulness Moment: Take a few deep breaths and imagine you’re a bird flying high up in the treetops …

11:45 – Planting the Gardens: The class will have their very own garden bed to nurture and care for.

12:00 – Music Lesson: Learn fun nursery rhymes in English, French, & Malagasy.

12:20 – Get Ready for pick-up.
