Declare Independence: Tear Down the King
In July 1776, servicemen tore down and cut apart the gilded statue of King George III at Bowling Green. This act continues to serve as a symbol of liberation today. Join Scholar-in-Residence Dylan Yeats for a fun, family-friendly reenactment of this historic event in front of the Old Stone House. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to write tyrannies they seek to declare independence from on a re-created statue of King George III. Then listen for a reading of the Declaration of Independence and tear down the statue! Register online.
