Celebrate AAPI Month at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum with weekly events featuring special story times and a dumpling making class.
May 2, Storytime with Yobe Qiu: Meet author Yobe Qiu and participate in an interactive reading of Yobe’s book Delicious Asian Foods from A-Z and Tracy Guan’s Love is Mama’s Hands. This program includes a book reading followed by a paper dumpling artmaking workshop.
May 9, Dumpling Making with Christine Wong: Join author and plant-based chef, Christine Wong for an East Asian style dumpling making workshop! Participants are invited to learn how to roll dumpling wrappers and fold them in different ways using all types of colorful dough. Get to taste of some delicious veggie dumplings and take your own home to cook and eat later!
May 16, Storytime with Anu Sehgal: Join author Anu Sehgal, as she reads her newly published book I Am A Lotus. I Am a Lotus is about using book on mindfulness, meditation, and reflection to become a lotus in mind and body. After the reading, participants will learn and practice Lotus meditation and movement activities, get a temporary lotus temporary tattoo, and participate in an art-making activity.
May 23, Storytime with Michele Wong McSween: Join author Michele Wong McSween for a special reading of Gordon & Li Li: Learn Animals in Mandarin. This program offers a mini-Mandarin lesson, book reading, and an interactive art project. Books and plushies will be available for purchase.
