Celebrating Women’s History Month: Building Wealth & Fostering Leadership Fireside Chat

Queens, New York – March 25, 2024 – In honor of Women’s History Month, an inspiring and informational Building Wealth & Fostering Leadership Fireside Chat will take place, featuring two powerhouse speakers: Karen Boykin-Towns, Vice Chair of the National Board of the NAACP, and L. Joy Williams, national political strategist and President of the NAACP New York State Conference. This dynamic discussion will be facilitated by Dawn Cotter-Jenkins and Tracy L. Gray, who met at an Arlan Hamilton book club event.

This special event will explore how women can create pathways to financial independence and leadership in their communities. Through insightful conversation, attendees will gain strategies to overcome obstacles, embrace change, build meaningful connections, and lead with purpose and innovation.

About the Featured Speakers:

🔹 Karen Boykin-Towns is a distinguished strategist, business leader, and social change agent with an extensive background in policy, advocacy, communications, and corporate affairs. As the vice chair of the National Board of Directors for the NAACP, she leverages her expertise to drive systemic change. Karen is also the founder and CEO of Encore Strategies LLC, a consultancy integrating business and public affairs initiatives. Previously, she held key leadership roles at Pfizer, including serving as the company’s first chief diversity officer.

🔹 L. Joy Williams is a highly sought-after political strategist, consultant, and social justice advocate. She provides strategic counsel to elected officials and organizations nationwide and is a respected voice in political commentary. As the president of the NAACP NY State Conference and the founding chairman of Higher Heights for America, she continues to lead initiatives that amplify Black women’s political engagement and leadership through her Sunday Civics podcast.
