ASASE YAA CULTURAL ARTS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES ITS NINTH ANNUAL ART IS ALIVE FESTIVAL

The 9th Annual ART IS ALIVE Festival hosted by Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation is coming to Brooklyn! This year’s festival is their most adventurous undertaking to-date, comprised of more than 20 hours of programming, including daily diverse cultural and global dance styles taught by a prestigious collective of New York’s top instructors and choreographers.
Taking place Sunday, September 14 – Saturday, September 20 at Asase Yaa’s headquarters (506 Macdonough Street, Brooklyn, NY 11233), ART IS ALIVE will last seven full days and is completely free and open to the public. The festival will culminate on September 20 with a six-hour Block Party of headlining live performers representing music genres from contemporary jazz, salsa, spoken word, Latin, and hip-hop.
Festival Highlights:
- Dance classes taught by world-renowned expert instructors and choreographers.
- 6-Hour Block Party Finale on September 20 (12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.), hosted by Master of Ceremonies Marlon Rice, featuring live performances by diverse music artists, including DJ Hard Hittin’ Harry, Grupo Sabrosura, Kweku Sumbry, Antoine Roney, Saidou Sangare, and The Last Poets.
- Workshops, community awards, food & drink, local vendors, and family-friendly activities all week long.
