After School Art Explorers: Drop-In Programs

Preschoolers and elementary school-aged children are invited to explore and create during these drop-in Tuesday afternoon sessions. Inspired by artworks on view, families will experiment with different art-making activities, such as printmaking, mixed-media collages, or sculpture projects.
This program is led by a museum educator and assisted by teen interns.
April 8, Collage Matzah Plates: In celebration of the upcoming holiday of Passover, families are invited to collage found images, patterned paper, and other materials to design a unique matzah plate.
April 22, Earth Day Sculptures: Use quick-drying clay, pipe cleaners, buttons, and other found materials to sculpt an animal, a tree, or something else from the natural world.
May 13, Found Object Portrait: Piece together a portrait using fabric, textured paper, cardboard, and more after viewing pictures of people in the exhibition The Book of Esther in the Age of Rembrandt.
May 27, Cityscape Paintings: Paint a cityscape inspired by your neighborhood or your favorite buildings in New York City. Get inspired by colorful painted scenes in the exhibition Ben Shahn: On Nonconformity.
