A Summer Arrangement: Object & Thing at LongHouse

This event has already taken place.Saturdays and Sundays, 12:30 – 5 pm, through Sept. 3, 2023;
$20

Installed within the gallery and guest level of LongHouse, A Summer Arrangement: Object & Thing at LongHouse features works by artists and designers including Rashid Johnson, Wyatt Kahn, Frances Palmer and many others, and includes works from the collection of LongHouse founder Jack Lenor Larsen (1997-2020).

The exhibition is a collaboration between LongHouse and Object & Thing, the art and design exhibition platform. A Summer Arrangement takes inspiration from Larsen’s non-hierarchical approach to objects and brings together contemporary works, including site-specific commissions, of both art and design. All works will be made from materials akin to those Larsen made and collected, such as ceramic, fiber, glass, metal, and wood.

The project team includes co-curators Glenn Adamson, LongHouse curator-at-large, and Abby Bangser, Object & Thing founder; alongside Colin KIng as installation designer.

Contemporary objects will be juxtaposed with Larsen’s collection, including works by anonymous as well as well-known craft artists and natural objects, such as straw hats, seed pods, and stones.  King’s design will also use Larsen’s collection of Wharton Esherick furniture.

Admission includes full access to the LongHouse gardens and grounds.
