4th Annual Astoria Park Pumpkin Smash

Don’t trash it, SMASH it! Sling your pumpkin across Astoria Park using a giant slingshot designed and built by Astoria Woodworkers Collective. Or you can grab a mallet and head to the “smash zone” tarp and smash by hand. All smashed pumpkins will be gathered into DSNY bins and taken off site for compost use to enrich our soil throughout the city. This year, there will be a new challenge introduced: Think your family has what it takes to build your own mini pumpkin launcher? Design a mini launcher, bring it to the event, and test it out to see how far you can sling a mini pumpkin. Participation prizes for all. Before or after your smash, enjoy some giant connect 4, table and field games, face painting, and more!
